Crowns

A dental crown is comprised of a tooth-shaped structure that is placed at the site of a lost or severely damaged tooth as a way of restoring its function and appearance. Patients who receive a crown are generally thrilled with their new restoration. Our experts are proud to offer dental crowns built from porcelain which provides a natural look and great functionality.

Patients receive dental crowns for many reasons, including:

· Restoring teeth that are damaged or weakened · Protecting teeth following root canal treatment · Improving the function of teeth · Adjusting the appearance of a tooth · Correcting teeth that are misshapen · Replacing teeth that are lost or missing

The first step when applying a dental crown is to shave off some of the enamel of the designated tooth. This is done to accommodate for the space that will be required for the dental crown. After the preparations have been made, the dental crown will be attached and secured using a dental adhesive.

Bridges

Sometimes called partial dentures, dental bridges are used when a patient is missing multiple teeth. A bridge consists of natural-looking prosthetic teeth that are held in place by the patient’s original teeth that are still present in their mouth. Different types of bridges exist, and they can be permanently fixed inside the patient’s mouth or removable for easy cleaning.

Fixed bridges use one of two methods to remain permanently attached inside a person’s mouth at all times. They are either bonded directly to adjacent teeth, or they can be applied as a series of dental crowns placed on top of underlying supporting structures (implants). Fixed bridges cannot be removed except through oral surgery, and there is very little possibility of them ever coming loose.

Removable bridges use metal clasps or precision attachments to remain in place whenever they are needed, even when the user is talking or chewing food; however, they can also be taken out when the user desires, including when it’s time for cleaning. Many patients find removable bridges to be a convenient solution for replacing missing teeth. We recommend considering the pros and cons of both types of bridges before making a final decision.
